Pete & Philippe

Jean-Philippe Failyau

CEO/Partner Gastamo Group/ Founder

While growing up in Belgium, Jean-Philippe always had a passion for cooking and the restaurant industry.  After graduating from Colorado State University he went on to complete culinary school at the French Culinary Institute in NYC. Philippe cooked at renowned restaurants Daniel, JoJo, and Le Cirque 2000.  Upon returning to Denver, Jean-Philippe cooked at fine dining restaurant Mizuna under Frank Bonanno.  In 2007, he and Frank opened Osteria Marco, an Italian inspired tavern on Larimer Square.  While seeing a need for more casual dining options in the Platte Park neighborhood, Philippe opened Park Burger in 2008.  Park Burger became an instant hit with its great food and service. Following the Platte Park locations success, Failyau oversaw the opening of several additional locations in the Highlands, RiNo, and Holly areas. Failyau met Peter Newlin and a new Gastamo team was born.  In the last 10 years, Philippe and Peter created and opened multiple concepts in Denver, including Homegrown Tap & Dough, Birdcall and Perdida.  During his free time, Jean-Philippe enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer and two boys, Aiden and Asher.  Jean-Philippe’s philosophy is to keep the food approachable and affordable using the best ingredients possible, “Better Ingredients make for better food”.
